Lifestyle | Non-Fiction Books you Must read in 2017

For as long as I can remember I have been a bookaholic and now is no exception! In the last year I received some really beautiful books and I wanted to share four of my favourite non-fiction books of the moment! One of the reasons these four have acquired this prestigious award is for the incredibly prejudice fact that they just look so pretty! They all have such lovely covers, with fancy fonts and designs.

A Life in Frocks by Kelly Doust

I am currently in the process of reading this book and I love it! The writing style and layout is so easy to get really stuck into, I love the addition of the pretty illustrations which add a lot of character to the tales. This book is Doust's 'analysis of her fascinating relationship with what she wears'.

Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes

This for me is the modern day Bobbi Brown make-up tips book. It covers all sorts of tips to do with skincare, hair care, make-up and also how to converse with make-up artists etc. It's laid out in short chapters with a photograph for each one. It's so easy to just read the parts which are of interest and come back later for more!

Bloom by Estee Lolonde

I haven't actually jumped on the bandwagon of buying all the books youtubers have brought out recently. However, this one caught my eye as it's not the typical style/make-up book which most have published. This book shares Estees ups and downs with her battle with depression and anxiety and it's incredibly well written. I really enjoyed reading all the anecdotes and I like how short each chapter was so I could easily dip in and out (how punny) whilst having a relaxing bath and really take my time to read it.

Nib and Ink by Chiara Perano

The last book on my favourites list is this beauty! I love a good old arty farty exercise book which teaches you how to do something so this modern take on calligraphy is right up my street. The book starts explaining the art of calligraphy and the technical terms for the equipment you need. Then it goes on with some simple exercises of drawing lines to get used to holding the pen and slowly builds up to letters and then words etc. It's a lot harder than people make it look but it's so worth it and it's actually a really relaxing thing to do!

So there we are, my four favourite non-fictions! I hope you like the look of these and give them a chance? If you've read any of them already make sure to let me know which you like the most.

KEEP SMILING

  1. I didn't realise Estee's book was so different to other you tubers, I'll definitely be giving this one a go! xx

    1. Yes it really is!!! It's more of a story of her life rather than the others which are the fashion and lifestyle ideas or cooking.
