Mulberry Spring/Summer 2014 Invitation

I've never been that interested in crockery. Probably because I've never had an experience in a restaurant where I've looked at  my plate in awe, admiring the design of it. I've always been more interested with the food which is upon it...... But if Mulberry is insinuating that crockery is 'in' then I am all for it.

I am sure you're all aware of the over the top TV show 'My Sweet Sixteenth', where bratty teenagers tantrum their way through the planning of their parties. Walking over their parents until they get everything they want, which normally includes a car, even though they can't drive for another year. The thing that always stands out to me is the invitation. More thought seems to go into what the invitation will look like and how they will deliver the news to their best, and did I mention, closest, 500 friends who are invited.

Well, Mulberry has put these teens to shame.

They've gone back to their British roots for their Spring/Summer 2014 catwalk invitation. Collaborating with the iconic brand Wedgwood, they've designed stunning miniature cups and saucers.

The beautiful dollshouse sized set was packaged in a neat box and slipped inside was the official invitation. It's all very Disney fairy tale isn't.

Each of the guests will get one of the colours above, I wonder if there will be a bit of swapping going on amidst the fashion show. I don't know about you but I think the pale blue is the nicest as it mirrors the designs Josiah Wedgwood was most famous for. Although the beige/brown compliments the Mulberry side of things. And oh my that pink is just precious. I think guests better have their negotiating skills mastered by Sunday.

Every teacup took several hours to make and they were checked by hand at every stage to make sure they were nothing but pure perfection. Moulds were made to create Mulberry's intricate tree logo and a special stamp was designed to be pressed into the bottoms of every teacup and saucer.

I am sure you'll agree with me when I say how gorgeous this invitation is and how impossible it would be to turn down ! They've set the bar high, so I have great expectations for their Spring/Summer 2014 show this Sunday. I'd like to end this post by saying Jane Austen was an admirer of Wedgwood's designs and owned a dinner set. She explained her delight of receiving the parcel in a letter to her sister, Cassandra. So I am sure she would have been impressed by this invitation !
