Fashion | Bespoke Niamh Stowe Skirt ~ outfit ideas

What's better than going out in an outfit, feeling fabulous and knowing no one else will be wearing it?! Nothing! So let me introduce you to my beautiful bespoke skirt and the wonderfully talented girl who made it for me!

In March 2012 I attended Julian Roberts pattern cutting workshop, as part of Bath in Fashion week. It took me by no surprise that the anticipation of going to a new sewing class by myself was making me incredibly nervous, I even remember a few points in the day dramatically declaring I wouldn't go! However, when I arrived at the assembly hall for the first part of the day, a lecture from Roberts about his studies, I plonked myself next to another girl who had also come alone.

5 years later, a little confusion as to if her name was Eve, Niamh of even pronounced Niamha, a lot of exhibition visits, many walks around Anthropologie, an introduction to the delicious world of macaroons and visits to both of our university's and home towns, I have indeed made a good friend in her!

Niamh studied BA(Hons) in Fashion Design at Bath Spa University and specialised in womenswear pattern cutting. Her Celtic Luminance Spring/Summer 2017 collection was chosen to be shown in the London Graduate Fashion Week 2016. I went along to see the show and her collection really did stand out from the crowd, it was incredibly sophisticated with flattering feminine silhouettes, whilst drawing on influences from the Edwardian era.

For my 21st birthday Niamh surprised me by letting me choose any item from her collection to be made especially for me, be her! Her entire collection was in white and most of it was made from leather, so the first step was for me to choose the type and colour of the leather and as you can see I chose a wine red textured leather, as I thought this would be a great colour to wear throughout Summer to Autumn!

It's such a beautiful skirt and it fits wonderfully, thanks to Niamh's sewing skills! My favourite part has to be the extra special touch of having a 'Niamh Stowe' label inside.

Summer Outfit Idea

In the Summer I think the skirt would look beautiful with a skin tone slip underneath and then worn with a simple cream top, such as this frilly number from Topshop. A pair of understated nude heels, like this pair from Primark, would make sure all the attention was just going to the skirt. I'd also wear my favourite Autograph nail varnish in Marsala.

It's time to follow Niamh (online only please) and check out her wonderful collection and all her other work!

Thank you for taking the time to read this post! I am sure you'll love her work as much as I do so click the links above and have a sneaky look!
