I am currently going through a treatment for my skin as I have acne, just on my chin strangely, and my oily skin has now become very dry. I still like to wear full face make-up when I socialise as it makes me feel more confident, however I am aware that it's best to let my skin breathe as much as possible. I was also having issues finding a foundation which sat nicely on my skin and didn't accentuate my dry patches. I did my research and came across this New Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation, my first ever foundation was their dream matte mouse so this is a little bit of a throw back for me!
This is their first gel-whipped foundation, which makes it super hydrating for the skin. It's a lovely smooth velvety texture to apply and does mirror the texture of a luxurious moisturiser. It also feels quite cooling to apply to the skin which is a major plus. It claims to have a soft-matte finish which I'd say is true, I got a little shiny on my T-Zone but it wasn't anything major. It stayed looking nice on my skin all day and I didn't have to touch up with powder etc. I think it's a light coverage foundation, I had to use concealer under my eyes and this wouldn't cover spots too well. This is actually one of the reasons that I like it so much because it looks natural as freckles etc can be seen through but then you have the option of also applying concealer to make a more flawless finish.
The packaging is nothing to write home about, I like the squeeze tube as it's hygienic, although I do prefer a pump foundation for getting the right amount out and therefore not wasting any product. The colour match is great for my pale skin and it doesn't get an orange tinge as it oxidises. There is a good range of shades and I appreciate how many pale colours there were to choose from, as they go darker very gradually which means I can easily find a shade which would suit me when I am tanned too.
This has become my favourite drugstore foundation, it's rare to find a matte yet hydrating product which doesn't clog your pores! Let me know if you've tried it out and what you think?
KEEP SMILING
I have dry skin too, so it's nice to see a blogger write about a foundation that is fit for that! I am always wary buying a foundation that's trying to be a new "craze". I am glad to hear the colour match range is good, I will need to try this out next time I walk past it. x

Dream Velvet is definitely a good shout! It's very tricky choosing a foundation which suits your skin type and shade!
